Tarot cards

I have a new deck I'm working with, and I'm trying something new. This morning, I drew two cards. Well, really, these two fell out, but the principle is the same. I'm going to contemplate on these (I hope) throughout the day and garner my own thing from them.

Devil - trickster, something not so good for you, wisdom (shown by the snake), attachment

Knight of Wands - fire, passion, young, lust, masculine

That's all I can think of at the moment. Its the Cosmic Tarot. Tonight when I get home, I'll take a look at the book meanings. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to leave them :)

Generally (depending on the artwork) I see the Devil card as "People trapped in a horrible situation, who either can't see, or won't acknowledge that they have the power to get themselves out of it". In many tarot decks, there are two chained people with the Devil, but the chains are looped so loosely around their necks they could just slip them off if they want. There are other, subtle, meanings. For example, in the Rider-Waite deck the people have tails (one of fruit, one of fire, if I remember correctly) which reflect back to King of Pents and Queen of Wands cards. In other words, having the inate power to be the King and Queen, but not using it and being trapped in this horrible situation.

This one is more like Pan romping through the forest. No chained people ;) Thank you for the info though, the more associations, the better!

oh, Pan is my patron...er..."God"...LoL! I love Pan!
I use the Rider Waite deck, I know, BROING, but they were my first, so I connect with them easily. For other people's tarot, I usually look for signs in the cards that stand out...one day it may be a cloud, another reading it may be a leaf on the same card...and relate that to the "instructions" in the box :) For myself, however, I go strictly by intuition. Usually, my deck has "death"...I usually connotate that to something "dying" in my Life...a habit, a good thing, or bad...simply a death of something, or an idea to help that death along, if it is a bad thing.

I used to draw runes before leaving for work in the morn. I am not as adept at runes as I am the cards, but for the most part, it was well worth the looking up in the book, that I kept by the door.

I also saw you are contemplating an element each week. Oh, I absolutely LOVE doing that! Makes you so much closer and observant of the world, and yourself, by doing that.
I had a hard time relating to "air", and tried my best that week. I ended up being gifted with about 6 feathers from different brids that week. Uncanny things, such as finding on in the parking lot at work, of a blue jay (my "Friend" bird), a lady coming into work gifted me with a crow feather from the parking lot (Crow has been my Wisdom Guide since I was a kid)...we recieved triple the amount of wild birds for rehab, and the doctor decided I should be the one to care for them all, a responsibility at that time which was TOTALLY unexpected...is routine now tho), found feathers in the strangest places, and while I was eating my lunch in my truck in the parking lot, a flock of sandhill crane, usually NOT in the area, flew past, eye height with me, past my truck...a VERY uncommon thing for them to just "pass thru" at that level of height!
It was a wonderful week of exploring. I remember by week of "air" all the time now, and it definitely has brought me a LOT closer with it.

Good Luck!! :)
