Well, we've had the idea of a pagan discussion group. I'm still bouncing that one around in my head. I'm also still bouncing around an idea of a pagan children's learning group - sort of like a Sunday school. Maybe some crafts with stories or lessons behind them. I may need some help with that though - as I don't know how to put lessons together. I can always ask my aunt, or anyone with child education experience. Perhaps I can even take a look into taking a few classes at a community college, though I'm not sure that's the kind of thing I can just take a few classes for. I'd like to be able to include older children too - so two sets of crafts and two sets of lessons. Perhaps I can have it on two different nights/afternoons. During the summer would be a good time to start, I think.
Any thoughts?

I know several families who homeschool their children. I'm sure I can get some ideas for lesson planning and such. Will make some calls/emails and get back to ya. Great idea though! =)

That would be lovely! I'm concerned about how to teach the kids the reasons for what we do, why we celebrate etc. I'm sure I'll learn more along the way myself hehe.

I'm not sure where it was, maybe Jenni would remember, but we came across a book...might have been at the Borders by my work...but the subject was all about raising children under the pagan traditions. Looked good and interesting. I'll see if I can find it agin.

There are currently two pagan LJ communities in which I am part of sacredinthecity and darkpaganism. I am not currently aware of one for dicussion on children at this time. That would be a kewl on to start though.

There are a couple that have to do with parenting...but, none really seem to discuss how to raise a family to be pagan. I'm also thinking of forming a local group, so that we can get together and have family events - going to the park to play, discussions, trading of ideas, hanging out for a movie night, etc.

I'd suggest trying for one group or the other at first, to see how you like it and if it is sustainable. Maybe you will find a teaching partner who can take the other group part of the time, then join for some common activity.

As for lesson plans, give me a call and come over. We'll discuss it and you can look through the pagan family books I have. One that I'd recommend gives stories and related activities around the wheel. I think it's really good.

Home schoolers would certainly have good input, too. You might post a query on the pagan family LJ communities for families in our area and for ideas. Could be fun.

When Pan started going to the one at Moonflower, I resisted going along with them. I knew I didn't have the energy to do it myself and I also knew I couldn't keep my mouth shut about what they were doing wrong. Damned if I do and damned if I don't, kinda, so I stayed away, even when the guys complained about it. I can't do everything all at once anymore. Drat!
